An easy rib-eye steak recipe is pan-seared, requiring only canola oil and salt and pepper for seasoning. The cowboy rib-eye steak is another easy recipe that includes a delicious spice rub.
For a simple oven-roasted rib-eye, heat a cast-iron skillet in an oven at 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Meanwhile, rub canola oil over the meat, and sprinkle on salt and pepper to taste. Remove the skillet from the oven, and place the rib-eye in it so the meat becomes seared. Make sure to turn the meat after 30 seconds. Place the skillet containing the meat in the oven, and cook it for another two or three minutes on each side. Remove the steak, cover with foil, and allow the meat to rest for a few minutes before serving.
To add a spice rub to the steak, place 1 tablespoon of cumin seed, 1 tablespoon of coriander seed and 2 teaspoons of black pepper corns into a food processor or spice grinder. Pulse for a few minutes, and pour the spice mixture into a bowl. Mix in 2 tablespoons of coarse salt, 1 tablespoon of sweet paprika, 2 tablespoons of chopped oregano, 2 tablespoons of light brown sugar and five minced garlic cloves. Rub the mixture into the steak, and allow it to marinate for a few hours or overnight before cooking.
