Betty Crocker and Kraft provide easy and quick taco salad recipes. Both recipes include tortilla chips, beef and tomatoes. Both recipes only require about 30 minutes of preparation time.
The Betty Crocker recipe suggests preparing the dressing first. Mix 1/2 cup of sour cream,1/2 cup of salsa and 2 tablespoons of taco seasoning mix in a small bowl. Mix the ingredients with a whisk or spatula. Refrigerate the dressing until the dishes are prepared. Cook 1 pound of ground beef in a skillet. Strain the beef, and add additional taco seasoning mix to the beef for taste.
Strain and rinse canned black beans. Divide a bagged romaine and leaf lettuce blend onto six plates. Top each plate with beef, black beans, diced tomatoes and shredded cheddar cheese. Serve the salad with tortilla chips and the dressing.
The Kraft recipe includes adding a chopped onion to fry with the beef and adding seasoning mix to the beef. For the salad, it suggests 10 cups of torn romaine lettuce. For the dressing, Kraft suggests using ranch dressing for the salad, rather than the salsa and sour cream mixture. It also suggests placing crushed tortilla chips on top of the salad. This recipe also yields six servings.
