Martha Stewart and Taste of Home offer simple sour cream apple pie recipes. While Taste of Home's version is fairly straightforward, Martha Stewart's recipe adds a cinnamon twist to the dish to make it more flavorful.
To make the Taste of Home sour cream apple pie, beat 2 eggs in a large bowl. Add 1 cup of sour cream, 1 cup of sugar, 2 tablespoons all purpose-flour and stir. Add 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and mix thoroughly. Fold in 3 cups of chopped tart apples and pour into pie shell. Bake for 15 minutes at 375 degrees F.
Combine 1/4 cup brown sugar, 4 tablespoons flour and 3 tablespoons of butter. Pour the mixture over the pie and bake for 25 more minutes. Cool for two to three hours, and serve.
