For simple meat pie, brown 1 pound of ground beef with 1/2 cup chopped onion, drain the food, and add salt and pepper to taste. Place the mixture into a 9-inch pie plate, and top it with 1 cup grated cheddar cheese. Mix together 1 cup milk, 1/2 cup baking mix and two eggs, pour over the cheese, and bake the food for 30 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
For a sandwich-style meat pie, make dough by stirring 1 cup boiling water into 4 1/2 cups dry biscuit mix. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface, knead slightly, and divide dough into six balls. Pat each ball into a 7-inch round, and place them on a greased cookie sheet. Brown 1 pound ground beef, add one minced yellow onion and 1 teaspoon black pepper, cooking for five minutes. Add 1/2 head shredded cabbage, 1 pound bag sauerkraut and 1 teaspoon salt. Cook for 15 minutes, strain away liquid, and cool. Spoon 1/2 cup beef mixture into half of each round, moisten edge with water, fold round over beef mixture, and press with a fork to seal the edge. Cut vents in the top of each pie, and bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes.Learn more about Meat
