A roasting pan can cook rice, baked potatoes and beef stew. To make baked potatoes in a roasting pan, scrub the potatoes, pierce each of the potatoes with a fork, and cook them at 400 degrees Fahrenheit until they're tender.
To make rice in a roasting pan, combine 8 cups of white rice, 8 cups of chicken or vegetable broth, 2 tablespoons of dried minced onions, 8 cups of water and 1/2 cup of butter in the insert pan. Cook the rice at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 1 1/2 hours, or until the rice is tender and has completely absorbed the liquid. Freshly diced onion can also take the place of the dried minced onion.
To make beef stew in a roasting pan, place 2 pounds of beef, 4 large diced carrots and 2 peeled and cubed potatoes in the insert pan. In a bowl, mix 3 cups of water, 1 package of beef stew mix and two 10 3/4-ounce cans of condensed cream of tomato soup. Pour the soup mixture over the meat and vegetables, and cook the stew for 3 hours at 250 degrees Fahrenheit, or until the internal temperature of the beef is at least 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
