Full Answer

Bobby Flay's recipe begins with putting a dozen brats into a Dutch oven with 1/2 stick butter and a sliced medium sweet onion. Cover the brats with beer, and bring the mixture to a boil. Simmer until the brats are thoroughly cooked. Take the brats out, and put the beer mixture to one side.

Put the brats on a grill until they look golden brown, and put them back in the beer mixture until it's time to serve. Top with onions, green peppers, sauerkraut, mustard and ketchup after putting the brats onto buns.

To complete the Taste of Home recipe, make two foil sheets about 17-by-15 inches, double thick. Lay them on a flat surface. Open 3 pounds of uncooked bratwurst links, and cut them into thirds. Divide the pieces evenly between the foil sheets, along with 3 pounds of small red potatoes (cut into wedges), 1 pound of baby carrots, a large, sliced red onion split into rings and 9 ounces of whole mushrooms.

Dot both sheets with a total of 1/4 cup of cubed butter. Sprinkle an envelope of onion soup mix, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and pepper to taste over the sheets. Bring the foil sheet edges together, and crimp the edges to make a seal. Make sure that each package is sealed tightly before turning it to provide the contents with an even coating. Grill for about 25 minutes on each side, or until the sausage no longer looks pink and the vegetables are tender.
