Some easy recipes for beginners include lemon shrimp pasta, chicken enchiladas and pulled pork. To make pulled pork, make the rub from 1 1/2 teaspoons of kosher salt, 1/2 teaspoon each of pepper and oregano, and 1 teaspoon each of chili powder, cumin and garlic. Rub the mixture on a 5-pound pork shoulder, and place the meat, 1 sliced onion, 3 cups of beef broth and 2 cups of water in a slow cooker for eight hours.
To make lemon shrimp pasta, cook 14 ounces of shelled shrimp in 1 tablespoon of olive oil at medium heat for three minutes, and then remove it. Add 4 minced garlic cloves and 1/2 teaspoon of dried basil for 30 seconds before stirring in 3 cups of chicken broth, the juice from 2 lemons and 12 ounces of penne pasta. Cook the ingredients at a simmer for 12 minutes, and then add the zest from 2 lemons and 1 pound of asparagus.
Whisk together 1 tablespoon of corn starch with 3/4 cup of milk in a bowl, and stir the mixture into the pasta. Add the shrimp back into the pot along with 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, and cook everything for two more minutes before serving.
