Easy recipes for beef stew include McCormick's, Pillsbury's and Taste of Home's recipes for beef stew. Each recipe uses a different cooking method for the stew, including boiling, slow-cooking and baking.
To make McCormick's recipe, coat 2 pounds of sirloin steak cubes with 3 tablespoons of flour. Brown half of the meat in 1 tablespoon of oil on all sides, and repeat with the remaining beef. Add the beef, 1 package of beef stew seasoning mix, 3 cups of water and 5 cups of vegetables to a pot. Bring to a boil, and simmer for 15 minutes.
To make Pillsbury's recipe, layer 1 1/2 cups of baby carrots, 2 cubed potatoes and 1 chopped celery stalk in a slow cooker. Next, add 1 pound of beef stew meat coated with 1 package of beef stew seasoning. Pour in 1 cup of water and layer 1 cup of corn and 1 cup of green beans on top. Cook on low for eight to 10 hours.
To make Taste of Home's recipe, coat 3/4 pound of chuck roast cubes with 2 tablespoons of flour, 3/4 teaspoon of salt and 1/8 teaspoon of pepper. Brown the meat in a Dutch oven with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil, and add 1 can of tomato soup, 1 1/4 cup of water, 3/4 cup of chopped onion and 1/4 teaspoon of dried basil. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour, add 2 diced potatoes as well as 2 chopped carrots, and bake for another hour.
