An easy sausage bread recipe consists of one pound of sweet Italian sausage, garlic, salted butter, parsley, pizza dough and a few other ingredients. This recipe takes an hour and ten minutes to prepare and serves four to six people.
To make the sausage bread, line a cookie sheet with non-stick foil. Melt the butter in a large skillet and then add the onion, salt, pepper and parsley. When the onions are tender, add the garlic and cook until the onions are carmelized.
Next, place the onions in a bowl and add bite-sized chunks of the sausage to the pan. Cook it until the sausage is browned. Add the onions back to the pan and cook the mixture, covered, for 15-20 minutes on a low heat. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Now roll out one ball of dough on a floured surface until it is the size of a large pizza. Spread half of the sausage over the surface of the dough and cover with half of the mozzarella. Roll the dough up like a cinnamon roll and tucks the ends in. Place it on the cookie sheet and brush with egg white. Bake the sausage bread for 25-30 minutes and let it rest for ten minutes after baking.
Repeat the same process for the other loaf. This recipe can be served with marinara sauce.
