Roll-Out Sugar Cookies
Sugar cookies are a tasty treat for the holidays or just a casual weekend snack. Make up these easy roll-out sugar cookies using ingredients already found in the kitchen cupboards.

- 3 c., all-purpose flour
- 3/4 tsp., baking powder
- 1/4 tsp., salt
- 1 c., unsalted butter
- 1 c., sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp., milk
- Powdered sugar
- Soften the butter and sift the dry ingredients
- Make the dough
- Roll out the dough
- Cut out cookies and bake
Set the butter out to soften a couple of hours before making this dish. When ready to start, sift together the flour, baking powder and salt.
Beat the butter and sugar in a mixer until well blended and a light yellow. Beat in the egg and milk. Turn the mixer down to low. Add in the flour mixture. Beat until dough starts to pull from sides of bowl.
Divide the dough into two equal parts. Wrap both in wax paper and refrigerate 2 hours.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Spread powdered sugar out over the counter top or work surface. Place one half of the dough on the surface. Gently, roll it flat with a rolling pin. Add more powdered sugar as needed to prevent sticking.
Cut out the cookies with cookie cutters. Butter a cookie sheet. Place cutout dough on it and put into the oven. Bake 7 to 9 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before icing.
