To make meatloaf, mix ground beef with spices, bread crumbs and an egg. Form the mixture into a loaf and bake for 40 minutes. Evenly spread the meatloaf with ketchup, and put it back into the oven for 20 minutes. Cool the meatloaf and serve with your choice of sides.
- Preheat the oven
Set the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit in preparation for the meatloaf.
- Mix the meatloaf ingredients
In a large bowl, mix 2 pounds of ground beef with half a cup of plain bread crumbs, one egg, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, and half a teaspoon each of garlic powder, black pepper and salt.
- Form the loaf
Press the meat mixture into an 8x4-inch loaf pan. Alternatively, put the meat mixture onto an ungreased baking sheet and press it into the proper shape. If it does not hold its shape on the baking sheet, put it back into the bowl and add more bread crumbs.
- Bake the meatloaf
Bake the meatloaf in the oven for 40 minutes. If you have it in a loaf pan, cover the top with a quarter cup of ketchup. If you have it on a baking sheet, use 1 cup of ketchup to cover it. Put it back into the oven to cook for another 20 minutes. Remove the cooked meatloaf from the oven, and let it rest for five to 10 minutes before serving.
