An easy hamburger stroganoff recipe includes hamburger meat, an onion, cream of mushroom soup and a few additional ingredients. This recipe serves four to six people and takes 15 minutes to complete with five minutes of prep time and 10 minutes of cooking time.
To make the hamburger stroganoff, brown 1 pound of hamburger meat in a large skillet with 1 diced onion and 1 minced garlic clove. Next, drain out the fat and pour in a 10.5-ounce can of cream of mushroom soup, 1 cup of sour cream, 2 teaspoons of dry mustard and 4 tablespoons of milk. Let it simmer over medium-low heat for about five minutes. If you prefer a creamier stroganoff, add in an additional can of soup. Next, add salt and pepper to taste. This hamburger stroganoff can be served over egg noodles, rice or made into a sandwich.
If you desire, you can also add in sliced mushrooms, diced red bell pepper or a dash of Worcestershire sauce for added flavor. A 1/4 teaspoon of paprika is another good flavor option. For a lower fat version, use reduced fat sour cream and low-fat cream of mushroom soup. For a vegetarian option, substitute veggie crumbles for the hamburger meat.
