An easy recipe for avocado dip uses three avocados, one medium tomato, one medium onion, the juice of one lime, and salt and pepper. Tobasco sauce is an optional ingredient if you want a spicier dip.
Dice the avocado, and mash with a fork. If you prefer a creamier dip, use a pastry blender or food processor to blend. Dice the onion and tomato, and add them to the mixture. Finally, squeeze in the lime juice, and add some salt and pepper. For extra kick, add a few drops of Tabasco sauce. Serve the avocado dip with tortilla chips.
Another easy avocado dip with a creamier texture uses two pitted and diced avocados, one package of cream cheese, 1/3 cup of plain yogurt, 1/3 cup of Picante sauce, one lime, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and salt and pepper. Combine the avocados and cream cheese in a small bowl. Then add the yogurt, Picante sauce, lemon juice and seasonings.
If you want to refrigerate your dip for later, be sure to cover the dish well, and add extra lime juice in order to prevent the dip from browning. However, it is best if you make your guacamole and avocado dips right before serving them.
