An easy London broil recipe for beginners is balsamic glazed London broil. Along with a London broil, this recipe requires only salt and pepper, balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, garlic and a bay leaf.
In a skillet, heat 1/3 cup of balsamic vinegar, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, 1 smashed garlic clove and one bay leaf. Simmer on low heat until the sauce is reduced. Remove the bay leaf and garlic. Rub 1/2 teaspoon of salt and pepper on a 3-pound London broil, then place it in a broiling pan. Rub the glaze over the meat.
Place the broiling pan close the heat so that the meat is only inches from the heat source. Broil the meat for four minutes with the oven door cracked open. Turn the meat over, and cook for another four or five minutes. Remove the meat from the heat, and allow it to rest for five minutes before serving.
Alternatively, use a marinade instead of a glaze to season the meat. In a blender, place 1/4 cup of balsamic vinegar, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1/4 cup of dry red wine and 1 tablespoon of honey. Season with 5 garlic cloves and 1 teaspoon of salt. Blend until everything is mixed, then pour the marinade in a resealable plastic bag with the meat, and chill for at least four hours before cooking.
