Vanilla Pound Cake is an easy recipe that comes together in three steps. The ingredients include 1 cup of unsalted butter at room temperature, 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of sugar, 4 eggs, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
Begin making the pound cake by preheating the oven to 350 F. Grease and flour a loaf pan measuring 8.5 by 6.5 inches. Using a mixer, beat the butter and sugar together at high speed until the mixture is light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, making sure to thoroughly mix after each addition. Then add the vanilla and salt.
Using the mixer's low speed, add the flour a little bit at a time. Beat until the flour is incorporated, but do not overmix. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, and bake for one hour or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the cake comes out clean. If the top of the cake becomes too brown during baking, tent it with aluminum foil. After taking the cake out of the oven, wait 15 minutes, remove the cake from the pan, and place it on a wire rack to cool completely.
