Gingerbread men and kid-friendly gingerbread cookies are both easy and delicious recipes for kids. The gingerbread cookie recipe provides a more refined taste because it uses a greater variety of spices.
To make the gingerbread men, mix 1 stick of butter with 1/2 cup of packed brown sugar. Add 1 egg yolk and 1/2 cup of golden syrup, and mix until smooth. Combine with 2 1/2 cups of flour, 1 tablespoon of ginger and 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Roll out the dough, and cut out the shapes. Bake for eight to ten minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Beat 2 egg whites, and add 2 cups of icing sugar to make icing. Decorate the gingerbread men with icing and candy of your choice.
To make gingerbread cookies, mix together 3 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 3/4 teaspoons of ground nutmeg, 2 1/4 teaspoons ground ginger, 1/2 teaspoons baking soda, 1/2 ground cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Cream together 1 stick of unsalted butter and 3/4 cups of brown sugar in a mixer. Add 2 eggs and 1/4 cups of molasses. Add the mixture of dry ingredients. Cool the dough in the fridge for about 45 minutes. Remove the dough from the fridge, roll it out, and cut out the shapes. Bake the cookies for about eight minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, cool them and decorate them.
