An easy salad recipe calls for 2 cups of fresh sliced strawberries, 2 cups of halved green seedless grapes, 1 small chunked cantaloupe and 2 sliced bananas. Toss the fruit in a bowl with 1/3 cup of fresh orange juice.
Try another recipe by combining 1 29-ounce can of undrained peach slices and 1 20-ounce can of undrained pineapple chunks in a bowl with 1 box of dry instant vanilla pudding mix. Mix in 1 pound of stemmed and quartered strawberries, 1 sliced banana, 1 bunch of grapes and 1/2 pint of blueberries. Stir the fruit until the pudding dissolves. Chill before serving.
For an alternative, gather 1 pint of hulled and sliced strawberries, 1 pound of seedless halved grapes, 3 peeled and sliced kiwis and 3 sliced bananas. Mix with 1 21-ounce can of peach pie filling. Chill for one hour before serving.
For a different take on fruit salad, add custard. Make the custard by simmering 1 1/2 cups of whole milk and 2/3 cup of sugar. Gradually pour the mixture into a bowl with 6 beaten egg yolks, and return to heat until the custard thickens. Remove from heat, and add 2 tablespoons of softened unsalted butter and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix 6 peeled and chopped kiwis, 2 peeled and sliced mangoes and 1 peeled and chopped melon in a bowl along with 1 quart of quartered strawberries, 1 quart of blackberries and 1/2 quart of blueberries. Pour the custard over the fruit, and serve.
