Make an easy banana smoothie by combining one ripe banana, 1/2 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of yogurt and a handful of ice in a blender. Tightly seal the blender, and blend the mixture for 20 to 30 seconds, or until it's smooth. This recipe can be easily tweaked with the addition of other ingredients such as berries, honey, juice or peanut butter.
Add a handful of fresh or frozen strawberries to a banana smoothie, or drop in a spoonful of peanut or almond butter. Make the drink sweeter by including 1 teaspoon of honey. Give the drink tart flavor by using orange juice instead of milk, or by adding 1 teaspoon of lemon juice.
Increase the nutritional value of the drink by adding some fresh spinach or kale. The sweetness of the bananas masks the taste of the greens.
One way to intensify the banana flavor in this drink is to use frozen fruit. Do not freeze bananas whole, as this makes the peel difficult to remove. Instead, peel and slice the banana. Arrange the slices in a single layer on a baking sheet, and freeze them for 15 to 30 minutes, or until hard. When using frozen banana, leave the ice out altogether, or add only a few cubes.
