- 5 cups, apples, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup, sugar (with a bit more to sprinkle over the pie)
- 1/2 teaspoon, ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon, ground nutmeg
- 1 pack, pie crust mix
- 1/2 cup, all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon, butter
- Prepare the oven and the pie crust

- Cover the filling
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare the pie crust mix according to directions. Trim the edges and about an inch of overhang on the rim of the pastry plate.
In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon. Add the apple into the mixture and toss. Spoon the mixture into the pie crust and cover it with small cubes of butter.
Roll the remaining pastry dough and then cut it into 10 1/2-inch wide strips. Arrange five strips across the pie. Weave the remaining pastry dough strips over and under in an alternating pattern over the first layer of strips. Trim the edges of the dough and fold over the pie to make a high edge, and then flute. Brush the top with milk and sprinkle with sugar.
Place the pie in the oven and bake it until golden brown, which takes about 30 to 35 minutes.
