One of the easiest ways you can cook snow peas is to steam them, either on top of the stove or in the microwave. Additional quick, easy methods for cooking snow peas include sautéing and stir-frying.
To steam snow peas, add a steamer basket to a large pot and enough water to almost reach the base of the basket. Bring the pot to a boil over medium-high heat, add the snow peas, and cover the pot. Cook the snow peas for one to three minutes, until they are crisp tender and bright green. Alternatively, add 2 tablespoons of water for every 1 pound of washed, trimmed snow peas to a microwave safe bowl.
Cover the bowl, and microwave the snow peas on high for three minutes. Drain the snow peas, and drizzle them with oil or butter, sprinkle a little salt and pepper on top, toss everything together, and serve the snow peas while they're hot.
Sauté snow peas for one to three minutes in a heavy skillet with butter or oil. Mark Bittman of the New York Times recommends stir-frying the peas in a wok filled with hot oil until the snow peas are a vibrant green color. Combine equal parts of peanut and sesame oil and drizzle the mixture over the stir-fried snow peas before finishing with a little soy sauce and seasonings such as garlic and ginger.
