Tazo Chai Classic Latte is a liquid mix of water, black tea, sugar and spices, including ginger, cinnamon, cardamom and cloves. The concentrate is combined with equal parts milk or milk substitute, and then heated in a microwave or over the stove. This concentrate may also be poured over ice to make iced chai tea.
Oregon Chai Original Chai Tea Latte Powdered Mix is sold in envelopes, each of which makes a single chai latte. This mix is made from dried and powdered milk mixed with sugar, black tea and natural flavors. One packet is combined with 8 ounces of hot water to make a chai latte. For an iced latte, the powder is mixed with hot water, then poured over ice once it has cooled.
To make DIY Natural's instant chai mix, combine 1 1/2 cups of cane sugar and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, and let the mixture dry. Measure out 2 teaspoons each of ground ginger and cinnamon; 1 teaspoon each of nutmeg, allspice and cloves; and 1/2 teaspoon each of cardamom and white pepper. Mix together spices, cane sugar, 1 3/4 cups of nonfat milk powder and 1/4 cup of powdered sugar. Add 2 tablespoons of this mixture to a cup of hot black tea to make a chai latte.
