The ingredients for the banana pudding include sugar, flour, ripe bananas, Nilla Wafers and a few additional ingredients. To make the banana pudding, mix 3/4 cup of sugar, 1/4 cup all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon salt in a large saucepan. Next, stir in 3 cups of 2-percent milk. Cook this mixture while stirring over medium heat until it starts to bubble and thicken. Once it starts to bubble, reduce the heat to low, and cook for about another two minutes, and then take the pan off the heat.
Whisk three eggs in a small bowl. Stir in a small part of the hot milk mixture into the eggs, and place the mixture back into the saucepan. Return to low heat, and bring to a simmer. Stir this for about two minutes. Take off the heat, and add in 1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Allow this mixture to cool for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Place about 25 Nilla Wafers in the bottom of an ungreased 8-inch baking dish, about two sliced bananas and half the pudding. Repeat until you run out of ingredients.
