Date fruits are products of the date palm tree, and are commonly known as one of the sweetest fruits. They come in different varieties and can be eaten both fresh and dry.
Fresh dates are found in speciality markets from September to December, while dried versions are found at the local grocery store year-round. Both fresh and dried dates can be eaten with little preparation; however, consumers can enhance the taste by stuffing them with almonds, cream cheese or walnuts. Dates complement a salad as well. Dates have associated health benefits. They are rich in vitamins, fiber, calcium, manganese, copper and potassium.
