Cut a mango fruit by separating the fruit from the seed, cutting a checkerboard pattern into the fruit, and then separating the fruit from the peel. Although there are multiple ways to cut a mango, this method can be used to remove as much fruit from the seeds as possible.
- Cut the flesh from the seed
Position the mango on a cutting board with the stem down. Cut the fruit lengthwise about 1/4 inch from the center. Turn the fruit around and repeat on the other side.
- Cut the fruit into squares
Using one of the mango slices, cut a checkerboard pattern through the mango flesh but not through the mango peel. Repeat on the other mango slice.
- Remove the fruit from the peel
Push the peel of the mango side inside out so cubes of mango stick out from the peel. Scrape the fruit from the peel with a knife.
