To make great chili in a slow cooker, brown hamburger meat and drain off the fat. Add the browned hamburger meat, beans, and spices to a tomato base and let it cook on low for eight hours.
Brown 1 pound of hamburger meat. Drain the fat from the hamburger before placing it into the slow cooker. Mince 3 cloves of garlic, dice 3/4 cup of onion, and 3/4 cup of celery and add those ingredients to the slow cooker. Pour 2 10.5-ounce cans of tomato puree into the slow cooker.
Drain 1 15-ounce can of kidney beans. Add the drained kidney beans and 1 15-ounce can of kidney beans with the liquid to the slow cooker. Stir to combine the ingredients. Add 1 15-ounce can of cannellini beans with liquid.
In a small bowl, combine 1/2 tablespoon of chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon of dried parsley and 1 teaspoon of salt. Stir and add 3/4 teaspoon each of dried basil and oregano. Add 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper and 1/8 teaspoon of hot sauce. Stir to blend well and add to the slow cooker.
Stir the contents of the slow cooker to evenly distribute the spices. Cover the slow cooker and cook the chili on low for eight hours.
