Some creative recipes that involve Coca-Cola include chicken wings with a Coca-Cola glaze, Coca-Cola candied sweet potatoes and a Coca-Cola marinated roast. The recipes are best made with Coca-Cola classic, but other varieties of the soda can be used as well.
To make the Coca-Cola marinade for chicken wings, pour 1 cup of Coca-Cola into a sauce pan over a high heat. Slowly add in 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar and sir until it is dissolved. Add the juice of up to two limes and three finely chopped jalapeño chillies. Bring the sauce to a boil, then reduce to a low heat and allow to simmer until the sauce thickens.
To make Coca-Cola candied sweet potatoes, combine 2 cups of soda with one-half teaspoon salt, one-fourth teaspoon grated nutmeg, one-fourth teaspoon cinnamon, one-eight teaspoon vanilla extract and three cloves in a large pan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, add 2 pounds chopped sweet potatoes and 3 tablespoons butter and bake in an oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes.
The Coca-Cola roast is a simple recipe that only calls for one can of non-diet Coca-Cola and one package of onion soup mix. First place the roast in a pot on the stove top, then add the soup mix and the soda. Stir until the roast is covered, then cook on low for approximately 10 minutes.
