A positively received copycat recipe for Waffle House waffles was developed by Todd Wilbur. You can prepare the recipe in under 25 minutes, and it can feed up to six people.
Take 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, and stir them in a medium sized bowl. Beat one egg, and whisk it in a different bowl before combining it with the other ingredients and mixing thoroughly. Next, add 1/2 cup of half and half, 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla, 1/2 cup of milk and 1/4 cup of buttermilk, then sufficiently stir the mixture once again until all of the ingredients are effectively integrated. Add the dry flour mixture, stir thoroughly, then leave the batter to cool.
For best results, leave the batter to cool overnight, although you can use it immediately. Add a light coating of vegetable oil to your waffle iron. Add the batter to the waffle iron, ideally between 1/2 and 1/3 of a cup, before cooking it for three to four minutes until the waffles are light brown. You can also add an alteration to the recipe by adding 1/4 cup of chopped pecans to the batter before baking to make pecan waffles.
