To make a whole turkey in an electric roaster oven, take the insert pan out of the roaster, and preheat the roaster to its highest setting. Prep the turkey by rinsing it with water and patting it dry. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon salt in the turkey's cavity. Place the turkey in the roasting pan on top of the roaster's wire rack with the handles up.
Rub 1/4 cup of olive oil on the turkey's skin, and sprinkle on any special seasonings desired and the salt and pepper. Put the turkey into the roaster, and cover. Roast at the highest setting for 30 minutes, and then turn the temperature down to 325 degrees Fahrenheit, and let the turkey roast. Lift the lid slightly after three to four hours to check the internal temperature of the meat. The juices should be clear when the turkey is finished roasting. The final temperature for doneness of the breast is 165 degrees Fahrenheit and 180 degrees Fahrenheit for the thighs.
