To cook spinach, place the spinach and a very small amount of water in a microwave-safe covered bowl, and microwave it on the high setting until the spinach wilts. Some instructions suggest giving it a stir halfway through the cooking process.
Combine the spinach with other ingredients before, during or after the cooking process for additional flavor. To make spinach with butter and garlic, warm up butter, minced garlic, salt and pepper in the microwave, then add spinach and continue to microwave until the spinach is tender. To make spicy, tangy spinach, microwave the spinach until it is tender, then toss the cooked spinach with cider vinegar, crushed red pepper and salt.
