Cooking spaghetti squash in the oven requires splitting it in half and baking it for approximately 40 minutes to an hour. Food Network and Martha Stewart require different styles of cooking spaghetti squash.
The Food Network recipe requires preheating an oven to 350 degrees F. Slice the spaghetti squash in half and place each half into a baking dish. Add approximately 1/4 inch of water into the baking dish. Bake the spaghetti squash for about 40 minutes.
Rake the squash using a fork to create a spaghetti appearance. Pour 1 jar of spaghetti sauce, 2 teaspoons of dry basil and 4 ounces of mozzarella cheese on the spaghetti squash. Put it in the oven until the cheese melts completely.
The Martha Stewart recipe requires preheating an oven to 425 degrees F. Cut the spaghetti squash in half. Drizzle it with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, salt and pepper. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the squash on the baking sheet with the flesh of the spaghetti squash face-down. Roast it in the oven for approximately 1 hour.
Use a fork to scrape the flesh out of the spaghetti squash. Place it into a bowl. Toss the spaghetti squash with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 1/2 cup of chopped parsley and 1/2 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top for additional flavor.
