Generally sirloin tips are marinated or seasoned before being cooked on a stove, in a slow cooker or on a grill. They can be skewered with vegetables to make kebabs or combined with vegetables and sauce to make a one-pot dish.
To cook sirloin tips on the stove top, season room temperature sirloin tips with salt and pepper, and sear them over medium-high heat in a heavy skillet coated with olive oil. Stir occasionally until the tips are browned on all sides. Then add 1/3 cup of water for each pound of tips being cooked. Cover and cook until the desired doneness is reached.
Cook sirloin tips in a slow cooker by placing 2 pounds of raw sirloin tips into a slow cooker with mushrooms, garlic gloves, fresh thyme, parsley and marjoram, and add two cans of condensed golden mushroom soup. Cover, and cook on low heat for four to six hours. Spoon over cooked noodles or rice to serve.
Prepare sirloin tip and summer vegetable kebabs by marinating the tips in soy sauce, balsamic vinegar and pepper. Thread the marinated tips onto pre-soaked wooden skewers with alternating slices of yellow squash, zucchini, onion and bell pepper. Grill kebabs for seven to eight minutes per side, then drizzle with a mixture of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice and herbs.
