How Do You Cook a Pork Roast?

Cooking a pork roast involves scoring the skin, seasoning with salt and pepper, cooking in an oven and then leaving it to rest. Pork roast takes time to cook, but the process is not difficult even for novice cooks. The only difficult part is scoring the uncooked meat.

Recipe Title: Pork Roast

This is a recipe for slow cooked pork roast — the result is a succulent meat that will fall off the bone easily once cooked.

Prep Time: 15 min.

Cook Time: 6 hours

Ready In: 6 hours 15 min.

Step 1: Start by using a knife to score the skin of the meat. This score should be deep enough to reach the fat, but not deep enough to reach the meat. Rub some salt into these scores, then turn the meat upside down and season with salt and pepper.

Step 2: Place the meat in a baking tray and put it in an oven that has been preheated to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Leave it in the oven for 30 minutes, then turn the temperature of the oven down to 325 degrees. Take the pork out of the oven and cover it with foil before putting it back in. Leave it in the oven at this temperature for 4 and a half hours.

Step 3: Take the pork out of the oven, remove the foil and baste it with the fat in the baking tray. Once this is done, remove most of the fat from the tray and add some vegetables. Put the pork on top of the vegetables without any foil and put it back in the oven for an hour.

Step 4: Take it out of the oven, put foil over it again, and leave it to rest before serving.
