To produce espresso, ground coffee is filled into a portafilter, and then water is forced through the coffee grounds. This mixture is removed in concentrated quantities to produce a bold flavor. If this process is not done well, the espresso may turn out under-extracted or over-extracted. This can be fixed by checking the coffee ground size and speed of extraction.
