Coffee ice cream has between 30 and 45 milligrams of caffeine in a half cup serving. In comparison, caffeinated coffee contains about 80 to 175 milligrams of caffeine in a cup serving. Coffee ice cream is one of several foods that are not required to list caffeine on their labels.
Other foods that may contain caffeine without the consumer's knowledge are decaffeinated coffee, weight-loss pills, chocolate, pain relievers and energy water. Those trying to reduce caffeine in their diets should also avoid some alcoholic energy drinks, soft drinks, breath fresheners and certain brands of sunflower seeds. Some brands of oatmeal and beef jerky may also contain caffeine.
