For an easy chili sauce that uses the stove and more spices, boil one large can chopped tomatoes, two chopped onions, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup vinegar with 1/2 teaspoon cloves, cinnamon and all spice. Cook the mixture until thick, and store until ready to use.
To make another chili sauce variation, place two 28-ounce un-drained cans of plum tomatoes, 1 cup cider vinegar, two peeled, cored and diced apples, one diced onion and 1 cup finely chopped celery in a large pot. Add in 3/4 cup brown sugar, 2 teaspoons salt, 1 teaspoon all spice and cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon cloves and 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper. Bring ingredients to a boil, then simmer for about 90 minutes or until thick, stirring often. If tomatoes do not break apart while cooking, smash them against the side of the pot with a spoon. The completed chili sauce can be sealed in hot, sterilized jars and kept in the back of the refrigerator until ready to use.Learn more about Cooking
