Some chili pepper names or varieties include jalapeno (Capsicum annuum), tabasco (Capsicum frutescens), cayenne (Capsicum baccatum), Scotch bonnet (Capsicum chinense) and habanero (Capsicum chinense Jacquin). There are many other names given to specially bred versions of chili, as well as to preparations, such as the smoked jalapeno, which is called chipotle.
Naga bhut jolokia, for example, which is also known as the ghost chili, is a spicier varietal of Capsicum frutescens (as tabasco). Similarly, Thai pepper is a hotter varietal of Capsicum annuum (or jalapeno).
Some other interesting chili names include bird's eye, Jamaican hot, naga-bih jolokia, super chili, Santaka and Manzano.
