Chai tea, when made in the traditional way with black tea and spices, has all of the nutritional benefits of black tea and is very healthy. According to WebMD, black tea contains powerful antioxidants called polyphenols. These antioxidants can lower your risk of certain types of cancer.
Several of the spices in chai tea are also nutritional powerhouses. Health magazine lists cinnamon, cloves and ginger as some of the most potent sources of immune-boosting antioxidants. Not all chai teas are created equal, however. Check the label on the packaging to ensure the tea you are drinking includes health-boosting black tea and spices and is not full of sugar and artificial flavors.
