The Food Network has plenty of simple Dutch oven recipes from which to choose such as Southern baked beans and beef brisket. Make easy baked beans by adding 2 cans of pork and beans, 1 diced onion and 1/2 pound of chopped bacon strips to a Dutch oven. Add 3 tablespoons of yellow mustard, 1/4 cup of light brown sugar, 4 tablespoons of ketchup, 1/4 cup of maple syrup and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Bake everything at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 to 60 minutes.
Bon Appétit provides plenty of stew and soup recipes such as a quick chickpea stew, or borlotti beans with garlic and olive oil. To make chickpea stew, pour 2 tablespoons of oil into a Dutch oven, and add 2 boneless, skinless chicken thighs. Cook for 10 minutes before removing it from the pot. Then, add 3 minced garlic cloves, 2 tablespoons of ground cumin, 2 tablespoons of tomato paste and 3/4 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes, cooking for one minute before adding the chicken back to the pot. Add 4 cups of water, and bring everything to a boil for 20 minutes. Add two 15-ounce cans of chickpeas to the soup, and stir in 1/2 cup of chopped roasted red peppers, 2 tablespoons of oil and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, cook momentarily, then serve.
