Frozen salmon can be cooked. Any icy glaze should be removed first by running tap water over the fish, and the fish should then be patted dry. It can be rubbed with olive or vegetable oil.
The frozen salmon can be cooked in the oven or grilled. Any spices should only be added after the first side of the salmon has cooked, or they are likely to burn. Cooking frozen salmon steaks or fillets takes only minutes.
Frozen salmon should never be thawed using warm water or at room temperature. If thawing is desired, it should be done in a shallow pan in the refrigerator for roughly 10 hours.
