Cream cheese can be frozen as long as it is in an air-tight, moisture and vapor-resistant package and is no more than one pound. It will change texture a bit, according to the National Center for Home Food Preservation.
Add heavy cream to the cheese before freezing if creating a dip or a spread for sandwiches. Prepare the cheese in packages of no more than 1 pound of cheese per package. The consistency and texture of the cheese may become crumbly and mealy after freezing, but the flavor should not be affected. Be sure to research how long the cream cheese or other variety of cheese will last in the freezer.
