There are several different types of food safety tests available to take online. The food safety quiz sponsored by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is one such test.
The free online food handlers test at PremierFoodSafety.com is another example. The NCAGR quiz merely allows food service employees to gauge common knowledge at best practices for the safe preparation, handling and storage of food, hygiene and sanitation.
The test at PremierFoodSafety.com closely resembles an actual food safety test that prospective food service workers must take in order to obtain a food handlers card or certification, which is a requirement to work in food service in most states. However, similar to the NCAGR quiz, the test at PremierFoodSafety.com does not culminate with the receipt of a food handlers card and a passing test score is not a valid, transferable credential.
ServSafe.com is a source of online food safety tests and nationally recognized food handlers certificates and credentials. ServSafe.com administers prerequisite coursework online as well. Courses are roughly 60 to 90 minutes, and the assessment is 40 questions and non-proctored. A minimum passing score is 75 percent. Students may take the course as many times as required to pass.
