Caffeine may slightly help with weight loss, but available proof is not sufficient to say that increased or long-term intake causes significant or permanent weight reduction. Possible weight loss may be attributed to the ability of caffeine to suppress appetite briefly and stimulate thermogenesis.
Caffeine, as a stimulant, may also give a boost in energy. Taking caffeine products, including coffee, energy drinks and pills, provides high energy and intensity during workouts, thus possibly aiding in losing weight. However, taking too much caffeine is not recommended, as it can cause nausea, insomnia, increased blood pressure, nervousness and other problems. Also, caffeine from high-calorie drinks should be limited, such as sugary energy drinks and cappuccinos, as they don't help in achieving weight loss.
