Bake a tart by combining 1/2 cup of confectioner's sugar, 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 1/2 sticks of sliced, softened unsalted butter in a food processor until crumbles form. Press the dough into a tart pan, or wrap it in plastic wrap and chill it for an hour. If chilling the dough, roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a circle before transferring it to a tart pan.
Once you make the tart crust, add a sweet or savory filling of your choice. To make a fresh fruit tart, bake the tart crust at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 to 12 minutes. While the crust cools, cream together 1 8-ounce package of softened cream cheese, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Pour the filling in the tart crust, and arrange freshly cut strawberries, kiwis and blueberries on top of the filling.
Whisk together 1 6-ounce can of limeade concentrate, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, 1 tablespoon of fresh lime juice and 1/4 cup of sugar, and brush the glaze over the tart. Serve the tart chilled with whipped cream.
Another recipe uses tart pastry dough made by combining 6 cups of finely chopped walnuts with 1 cup of flour, 1/4 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of grated lemon peel. Mix in 1/3 cup of butter and 1 egg, and press the dough into a tart pan. Bake the tart at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 16 minutes, and fill it with more chopped walnuts and chocolate ganache.
