Bake rainbow trout at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 to 30 minutes with the skin still attached and enclosed in tin foil. The trout should be flaky, tender and soft when done. If desired, bake it without the tin foil, and simply place it on a pan.
First, wash the rainbow trout fillet, and cover it with spices to taste and butter or olive oil. Options for seasoning include salt, pepper, paprika, thyme or dill. Onion powder, garlic powder, mustard, or any fresh herbs also make good seasoning for this dish. Wrap the fillet in tin foil. If desired, place vegetables such as peppers, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes or garlic pieces onto the fish inside the tin foil.
Another way to prepare rainbow trout is to coat it with crumb- or nut-based batter before baking. Some cooks people prefer to pan-fry the trout in a flour batter before baking, which usually contains salt and pepper to taste. If desired, squeeze fresh lemon juice onto the fish, or place fresh herbs on top of it before serving. Serve the meal with lemon wedges.
Rainbow trout is healthy and easy to prepare. Other ways to prepare rainbow trout include grilling, frying or smoking it.
