Is It Bad to Eat Fruit at Night?

If a person wants a nutritious bedtime snack, it is not bad to eat some fruit. Being hungry and going to bed without a snack can cause a grumbling stomach that may prevent a person from getting a good night's sleep. A healthy fruit snack can include some pieces of apple with a slice of cheese.

For a child, an alternative bedtime snack is a small handful of grapes and a cup of skim milk. The important thing to remember, before fixing a bedtime snack, is that it should be healthy food. An alternative to fruit is either a low-fat popcorn or a small bowl of healthy cereal with skim milk. A person with diabetes may opt to have a bedtime snack that includes a pear with its skin.

However, it is important to avoid having a big meal 2 to 3 hours prior to bedtime. Some other things to avoid are caffeine and alcohol.
