Aloe vera juice may not be safe for internal use. More human research needs to be done, as a two-year study by the National Toxicology Program produced clear carcinogenic results in rats. One should check with a doctor before ingesting aloe vera juice.
Aloe vera juice was used as a component in laxatives until 2002, when it was pulled by the FDA for insufficient information regarding its safety. Aloe vera juice has been said to enhance repair and healing of stomach ulcers, and to aid in weight loss, digestion and immune function. However, there is little scientific data proving that drinking aloe vera juice is good for humans.
