Moosehead Lager contains 5 percent alcohol by volume. Moosehead Lager is a light, golden lager brewed by an independent brewery called Moosehead, founded in 1867 in Canada.
The Moosehead brewery was founded by Susannah Oland. She came from England to Nova Scotia in 1865 and began The Army and Navy Brewery with her husband and a few employees. She was forced to sell the brewery when her husband died, but later began making beer again as S. Oland, Sons and Company. They lost the brewery eight years later in a fire, but her sons rebuilt and continued the company, this time naming it the Maritime Brewing & Malting Company. They lost the brewery once again in an explosion. Later, son George created the Moosehead Pale Ale.
