The stores featured the first natural foods departments, exclusive meat programs, wholesale sections, cosmetics departments and in-store banking areas. Pharmacies showed up in Save-On-Foods in 1985, and in 1986, the Overwaitea Food Group became the first retailer in Western Canada to stay open until midnight seven days a week.
