Food Network’s macaroni and cheddar cheese and Family Circle’s honey-soy glazed salmon are two 30-minute meal ideas. Preparation time for each meal is 10 minutes, and cooking time is 20 minutes or less.
To make Food Network’s recipe, cook 1 pound of macaroni, and set it aside. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil and 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet, add 3 tablespoons of flour, and cook for 3 minutes. Whisk in 1 1/2 cups of milk, and heat until it thickens. Slowly stir in 2 cups of shredded white cheddar, and season with 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg and 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Add the cooked pasta to the sauce, coat the pasta, transfer to a baking dish, top with another cup of the cheese, and broil the dish to brown the cheese.
To make Family Circle’s recipe, whisk together 1/2 cup of honey, 2 tablespoons each of soy sauce and chopped garlic and 1 tablespoon of lime juice. Place four 5-ounce salmon fillets skin-side down in a foil-lined baking dish, spoon half the sauce over the top, and bake at 450 F for 10 minutes. Add more sauce to the salmon, and bake another five minutes.
