Stage 1 baby food is the simplest form of baby food that is intended for infants who are just beginning to eat solid food. At this stage, baby food is given in small portions of single ingredient food.
Stage 1 baby food should be introduced after a baby has mastered eating infant cereal, which is usually between 4 to 6 months of age. A baby should be able to sit unsupported before stage 1 baby foods are started. Stage 1 baby foods are introduced no sooner than three days apart to allow caregivers time to easily identify allergies and sensitivities.
